Shilton is a most interesting character, riding his demonstrator bikes all over Europe and taking part in "The Circuit Des Pyrenees" for ten years, from 1971 to 1980. Just like Bert Hopwood, he was at the center of the storm that blew the British motorcycle industry from the landscape. However, Hopwood had probably never owned a motorcyle nor ever ridden one. Glover earned six AMA National Motocross Championships, a record which stood for nearly 20 years until 2003, when Ricky Carmichael finally eclipsed the mark.
