Jaguar knows that at the heart of a great car is a great engine. The Jaguar XF 4.2-liter V8s are compact and light, but big on performance and refinement, both engines featuring all-aluminum construction, variable camshaft phasing, four overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. The naturally aspirated V8 develops 300 bhp and 310 lb-ft of torque, with wonderful refinement, deep character and effortless performance. The supercharged version uses a rotor-type supercharger, driven from the crankshaft and with helical rotor gears for low noise and coated rotors for high efficiency. It develops an incredible 420 bhp, and up to 413 lb-ft of torque. That is the real beauty of mechanically driven supercharging massive torque and instant, linear responses.
